Andrew is a respected senior lawyer with over 30 years of experience in law and law firm leadership and management. His work in complex litigation spans commercial, environmental, personal injury and financial loss group and class action cases. A litigation lawyer since 1989, and later an accredited specialist, it was Andrew’s formative work as a young partner in the 1990s that saw him work on some of the most important class and group action settlements in Australian history. Becoming CEO and managing director of Slater & Gordon in 2001, he continued his role as a litigation lawyer for some years. He left the firm in 2017 after its decades-long growth and change under his leadership. He joined Gordon Legal as partner in September 2019, where he continues to work on a complex and diverse range of class actions such as the Robodebt class action, Junior Doctors Class Action and the BHI Student Pilot Class Action. Andrew also provides business consulting and advisory services to small to medium size professional service firms on strategic development, organisational change, leadership development and innovation.

She has had over 15 years’ experience in Workers’ Compensation fighting for the rights of injured workers against large companies and insurance agents. She also acts on behalf for many seriously injured people involved in motor vehicle accidents in Victoria. One of the most rewarding aspects of her job is acting for people who need help during one of the most difficult periods in her life. She is committed to fighting for people’s rights whether it’s for a lump sum compensation or fighting for the right of their medical expenses to be paid for. He has represented a wide range of unions, union officials and union members in industrial litigation, penalty proceedings, two anti-union Royal Commissions, general protections matters, rules disputes, administrative law challenges, coronial inquests, contempt of court cases and criminal prosecutions. In his over 40 years as a lawyer, Marcus has won a well-deserved reputation for his strategic, practical and industrially and politically astute advice. Marcus is Chair of the Migrant Workers Centre Inc which assists migrant workers and their communities to enforce and improve their rights. Marcus is also responsible for our Institutional Abuse practice.

Tess Dickie is an experienced personal injury lawyer with a background in Asbestos and Dust Diseases and WorkCover litigation. She is passionate about fighting for the right compensation for sufferers of asbestos and dust diseases including mesothelioma, lung cancer, asbestosis, asbestos related pleural disease and silicosis. Tess also has a particular interest in the emerging area of WorkCover compensation claims for sufferers of non-asbestos occupational diseases and cancers, having secured compensation for workers with silicosis, lung cancer, asthma, byssinosis and leukaemia. Tess’s combined experience in WorkCover and lung disease compensation makes her the optimal choice of lawyer for silicosis claims under the Victorian WorkCover scheme. Tess joined Gordon Legal in 2019, having worked in plaintiff personal injury law for almost 10 years. Katrina commenced her legal career in 2013, practising as a solicitor-advocate at a major criminal defence firm for several years. During this period, Katrina appeared in court regularly and instructed barristers in criminal trials. She then worked as a Judge’s Associate to a criminal law judge at the County Court of Victoria. Prior to joining Gordon Legal, Katrina was a barrister at the Victorian Bar where she practised solely in criminal law for six years. During this time, she appeared regularly in the Magistrates’ and County Courts in both summary and indictable criminal proceedings for accused persons and on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions, as well as for applicants and respondents in intervention order proceedings. Katrina joins Gordon Legal as a highly regarded and experienced criminal law advocate. Katrina holds a Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University.

She is dedicated to simplifying the complexities of the legal system to ensure her clients understand their rights and maximise their entitlements. She also has a background in healthcare, having formally worked as a registered nurse in several major hospitals and community healthcare settings, and has a unique insight, having acted for workers, employers, and insurers throughout her career. Patrick Gordon is an experienced lawyer, now specialising in criminal defence advocacy at Gordon Legal. Between 2017 and 2022, Patrick was a barrister at the Victorian Bar, with a busy criminal law practice. During this time, he regularly appeared in: contested hearings and committals in the Magistrates’ Court and the Children’s Court; appeals against conviction and sentence in the County Court; pleas in all types of criminal offending (violence, drugs, sexual offending, complex frauds); bail applications; compulsory examinations in IBAC; contested intervention order proceedings; sporting disciplinary tribunal proceedings. Prior to his time as a barrister, Patrick worked as a solicitor for several years across a range of legal fields, including several major class actions. Most notably, between 2009 and 2013, he worked at Gordon Legal on the landmark ‘Thalidomide’ class action in the Victorian Supreme Court. He also worked as a criminal defence solicitor at a major criminal defence firm, conducting appearances across all Victorian courts and instructing barristers in multiple criminal trials. He completed a Bachelor of Laws at Latrobe University in 2009 and completed the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law in 2010.

Guy joined Gordon Legal as a paralegal working in the Class Actions and Commercial team and was promoted to Graduate Lawyer and then Lawyer. Guy took a leave of absence from Gordon Legal to undertake the role of Associate to the honourable Justice Attiwill of the Supreme Court of Victoria. He returned to Gordon Legal in November 2023 and is currently an Associate in the Class Actions practice. Guy has been involved in several class actions conducted by Gordon Legal involving diverse subject matter, including the ‘Robodebt Class Action’, underpayment claims, and proceedings against insurers in relation to non-payment of business interruption insurance. Guy is passionate about pursuing complex and large-scale claims through the vehicle of class action litigation.

Ana works as an Associate in the Class Actions and Commercial Law team. She has assisted across a range of class actions at Gordon Legal, including the Robodebt class action, Business Interruption Insurance class action and the Box Hill Institute class action in conjunction with several ongoing class action investigations. Ana joined Gordon Legal as a paralegal in 2020 before commencing as a lawyer in the Class Actions and Commercial Law team in September 2020. Before joining the firm, Ana volunteered at several community organisations, including Darebin Community Legal Centre and worked as a paralegal at a preeminent migration law firm. Ana is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for all her client’s cases- large or small. Ana completed a Juris Doctor at Monash University in 2019 and a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and International Studies) at the University of Melbourne in 2015.

Madison has taken a leave of absence from Gordon Legal to take up a role as the Associate to the Honourable Justice Button at the Federal Court of Australia and will return to our class actions practice in mid-2024.

Renzo joined Gordon Legal as a paralegal whilst completing his Juris Doctor at the University of Melbourne. During this time, Renzo gained experience on a number of class actions, including the Box Hill Student Pilot Class Action, underpayment claims on behalf of junior doctors and the ‘Robodebt Class Action’. Renzo accepted a role as a Law Graduate in November 2021 and was admitted to practice as a Lawyer on 23 August 2022. Prior to joining the firm, Renzo worked as a Research Assistant to a barrister and an Intern at Refugee Legal. Before completing his Juris Doctor, Renzo undertook a Bachelor of Arts (Law & Society, English & Culture) at the University of Western Australia. Renzo has taken a leave of absence from Gordon Legal to take up a role as the Associate to the Honourable Mr Justice Watson at the Supreme Court of Victoria and will return to our class actions practice in early 2025.

Lauren is a lawyer in the Employment and Industrial Team. Before commencing with Gordon Legal, Lauren worked for a specialist employment law community legal centre. There, she provided pro bono advice and representation to Victorian workers in relation to employment, industrial and discrimination matters. Lauren has a particular interest in human rights practice and has represented numerous applicants in civil sexual harassment claims. She enjoys working closely with her clients to help them exercise their legal rights. Lauren volunteers with Barwon Community Legal Centre in their night service. She completed her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne.

This unique background in healthcare gives me an edge in understanding the complex medical and technical aspects of personal injury cases. I have been working at Gordon Legal since 2021, starting as a paralegal and progressing to the position of Lawyer. I am passionate about helping people who have suffered from accidents, injuries, or negligence and I strive to deliver the best outcomes for them.

Her passion for social justice inspired her to become a lawyer, where she intends to assist those diagnosed with dust-related diseases and those injured in the course of medical treatment.
